Strengthening protection against violence and harassment at sea
Violence, harassment, bullying, sexual harassment and sexual assault are serious threats to the safety of personnel.
Norway has ratified ILO Convention 190 on violence and harassment in the world of work, and must now report to the ILO on how it is being implemented. Trade unions have the right to contribute to this process and are encouraged to coordinate efforts and provide input. This work is closely linked to new international training requirements for seafarers on preventing violence and harassment at sea, which take effect in 2026.
